When I was younger I remember wearing a hat
It was beautiful, that hat, and reminded me of what my mother drank in the morning.
Such a silky white,
such a plain color.
It held my paleness in my face at a brim;
And kept my cheeks flushed but my soul untouched.

Sunday brunch with the ghost of a friend
I know it's not much but, who's to say pictures can't carry conversation?
And I feel far away, with every empty page
Waiting for the scrapbook to end
The house is so empty it stands
Where the sky meets the ground, it's a fortified land
Protects me from stick and stone, and trespassing men
But in this storm it's blown away with the wind
Just repair my heart with a suture and scalpel
And by morning I'll not know where I've been
In a dream I was sinking into sand
On the coast of some far away island, near the Pacific Rim
When a hand reached out and said you must take what you give
I laid down
An Oath to My Father:
The chill of winter is nothing, when compared to the cold inside my heart.
A fire, once stoked by the warmth of family, has quietly died, five falls past.
I dream of my father, who watches from beyond the realms - and my ancestors
Who fought against an endless army of giants, to win the lands we have today.
Just as a devout man honours his God through worship, I honour them through my axe!
Each stroke of the whetstone, each screech of the metal, brings me closer to them -
Even as I draw closer to my doom. Oh how I can feel him, for the anger in my blood
